I had problem finding precise pixel measurements for facebook profile photo and banner sizes, so I believed it would be fun to produce my own. And yes, that was a great deal of fun! What better thing to do on a Friday night? I miss out on the days of being a graphic designer.
The basic Facebook profile page and other pages are different, but not by much. The profile photo just drops by 17 pixels on business and fan pages, which can be a bit complicated if you do a google look for the real pixel measurements. I discovered that in general, the measurements weren't really precise and possibly 'eye-balled' to obtain close enough. But for sticklers like myself, I just can't handle incorrect pixel dimensions (blaarghh!).
Anybody on the webs can copy and paste details, but it's crucial that that details is accurate, otherwise incorrect details can spread like wildfire. Not that facebook pixel dimensions are all that crucial, but if I can conserve someone a number of minutes of head scratching, I'll be pleased.
The numbers in the diagram above are 100% accurate to the pixel level. I inspected and checked them at 800% in Photoshop. The JPG file can be opened in Photoshop to see the completely lined up guides as well, so don't hesitate to utilize that as a template. If the current Facebook page design changes, I'll check out updating the diagram.
